Swedish Institute Management Program for Northern Europe
The Swedish Institute Management Program for Northern Europe is designed to make the most of common strengths and future potential of the participating countries – Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the overall theme of the program.
The Swedish Institute Management Program aims at bringing together individuals of remarkable accomplishments in their mid-career to challenge their approaches, reinforce professional skills, deepen cross-cultural perspectives and unite them in a long lasting and active network. Effectively, the participants widen their contact network throughout the seven countries and strengthen their connection to Sweden.
The participants - highly educated and internationally oriented - are progressive and well-established opinion-leaders and rising stars in senior managerial positions within trade and industry as well as public sector. The Swedish host companies are the program’s corporate participants.
The program offers a unique combination of theory and practice. The core of the curriculum consists of advanced business-related problem-solving, seminars and meetings with prominent figures in the commercial, political and cultural fields, as well as company visits.
Program content
The Swedish Institute Management Program comprises three weeks of intensive work spread over approximately four months. The program’s three modules are put together into a concept that allows the participants
- to understand the nature and business potential of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and to test CSR-tools applicable to their own company.
- to try business development projects in Swedish host companies from different industries.
- to deepen their knowledge of modern international business and increase their cultural awareness.
By participating in the program’s modules, activities and the Alumni-network, the participants get to meet a number of knowledgeable and interesting speakers, which widens personal and professional networks and, not least, opens doors to new business development for the participant and her company.
Module 1:
The first part of the program involves launching both the business projects and the host companies’ work on them. We look at networking and leadership in a globalized world and discussions center on leadership, CSR and strategy, cultural diversity and its impact on entrepreneurship, the state of CSR in the region and how to communicate CSR.
Module 2:
In the second module the participants learn how to work with CSR in practice. We look at CSR and corporate governance, anti-corruption, socially responsible investment and change-management. During this module we visit northern Sweden. The work on the business projects in the host companies runs parallel.
Module 3:
In the third and last module, the final presentations of the business projects are prepared and carried out. We discuss important lessons learned from the business cases and how to maintain the network. In this module the participants get extensive presentation skills training.
