US scholarship winners congratulated by Swedish Foreign Minister and Nobel laureates

The three winners of the online competition Challenge Your Perspectives were selected last week in a ceremony in House of Sweden, Washington DC. The contest was organized jointly by Lund, Stockholm and Uppsala University in cooperation with the Swedish Institute. The three winners, one for each university, were awarded full scholarships (tuition and living costs) for studies at three master’s programs: Environmental Management and Policy at Lund University, Political Science at Stockholm University and Economics at Uppsala University.
At the ceremony, co-organized with Embassy of Sweden in Washington DC, the nine finalists were awarded diplomas and the three winners were selected. Among the speakers at the ceremony were Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt. The nine finalists were also congratulated at a symposium with the five US Nobel Laureates of 2012 on November 29. 
The finalists have degrees from Duke University, University of Minnesota, Pennsylvania State University, Yale University, University of Washington, University of Oregon, University of Georgetown, University of Rochester and Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The aim of the competition was to attract talented students from the United States and to highlight opportunities for studying in Sweden. A total of 1633 US students participated in the online contest and out of these 509 completed all the questions.
