Sweden launches digital presence in Arabic

2011.10.18

On the 13th of October 2011 Sweden launched the newly designed Arabic digital platform sweden.se/ar. Innovative in terms of content, structure and design, the official website of Sweden in Arabic is produced to suit the needs and interest of people in the Arabic-speaking part of the world.

The website aspires to primarily make young Arabic-speakers enjoy learning more about Swedish society and culture. The site will also provide valuable tips, opportunities and know-how to those who are interested in working, studying, or doing business in Sweden, or simply want to visit the country.

Sweden’s approach to its official digital presence will aim at focusing more on public diplomacy rather than political statements, thus creating a sustainable and ongoing dialogue between the Arab and Swedish general public rather than governments.

Frida Roberts, Head of Digital Communications at the Swedish Institute, says: “We are very happy about this digital presence and look forward to an online dialogue with young Arabic-speaking people.”

The Arabic version of Sweden.se is produced, operated and developed by the Swedish Institute. In addition to the Swedish Institute, four organizations are involved in the development of Sweden.se: the Swedish Government Offices including the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications; Invest Sweden; the Swedish Trade Council; and VisitSweden.
