Information about Sweden
One of the main tasks of the Swedish Institute is to spread information about Sweden to the rest of the world and to market Sweden in areas such as higher education and skilled labor immigration. This is done by producing and disseminating a large volume of information in both electronic and printed form and in different languages.
We cannot expect people to want to come to Sweden as a student, a researcher, an employee or a tourist, or to do business with Swedish companies or invest in our country, without knowing something about us in advance. And the image they have of the country should preferably be a favorable one if they are to choose Sweden ahead of so many other places competing for their attention.

At websites such as Sweden.se, Studyinsweden.se and Workinginsweden.se, but also via the web-based community Swedenintouch.se and other social media, we foster an updated image of Sweden and seek to engage visitors in dialogue. Also, by being innovative and using the latest technology in our digital communication, we help create an image of Sweden as a country at the cutting edge.
Besides innovative digital information, attractive and readable publications still serve an important function as door openers. Printed information remains a vital part of our communication work.
New channels
One of SI’s challenges is to find new ways of getting people to take an interest in Sweden. It is therefore important for us to maintain a presence in places where our target groups are to be found, and to offer services that provide added value to people who were not even aware that they were interested in Sweden.
