Swedish innovation such as the 3-point seatbelt, the pacemaker and mobile phone technology have conquered the world and created jobs and welfare. With a population of 9 million people, Sweden is a small nation with great ideas.

August Strindberg: Poetry and Music

Minsk
Centre for Swedish Studies in Minsk has launched an educational and creative project where students of the Swedish language translate Strindberg's poetry into Belarusian under supervision of experienced translateion experts. The ambition is to present the translation results in the form of a concert (April 19, 2012). Maria Lindström, a musician from Sweden, will present her music works based on Strindberg's poetry. The students are encouraged to do the same. On April 20, 2012 Maria Lindström will also speak about her creativity at the Swedish Centre's annual student conference. The conference has a broad title "Swedish Literature" and we hope that much will be dedicated to Strindberg and beyond.
