In February, a Swedish glassworks was shipped from the port of Gothenburg via Djibouti to Addis Ababa, its final destination. Here, the Glass Academy (Glasakademin) is supporting the Ethiopian Reflection Hot Glass project. This is a joint project bringing together the Ethiopian Reflection glass company run by entrepreneur Tigist Tesfaye, Swedish glass designer Ragnar Klenell, and Sweden’s Museum of Glass.
The aim is to help make Ethiopian Reflection independent of imported glass, and also to help it to find and develop its own character. In addition, it is hoped that the project will lead to new jobs in the glass industry.
